Purpose of the Project
The aim of this project is to raise the interest of students in learning art and design, to provide a model of IT in art education, to provide an alternative and supplementary teaching tools for art subject, to explain and describe difficult art concepts in an interactive and interesting approach, to provide a living art database and art archive for life-long learning and self-learning of art, and to encourage schools and teachers to adopt the use of hypermedia for teaching.

Design /methodology /approach
This project consists of an interactive and multimedia CD-ROM titled "Artscape 1.0 CD-ROM" and a website titled "Artscape Online", which enhance the students and general public's access to art. It attempts to transform, recreate and integrate the content/concept of the curriculum of Art and Design Subject of secondary schools in a highly interactive and interesting approach through the utilization of the latest technology and hypermedia.
Findings /Results /Evaluation of the Project
A website and a CD were developed in this project. Through the website and CD, teachers and students had the opportunity to understand arts in local community.
Project limitations /implications
Art is hardly defined and every element in life can be deemed as arts. Due to the extensive coverage of content, sourcing, screening, condensing, editing the content are time consuming.
Practical implications
About 3,437 CD-ROMs were mailed to all local secondary primary and special schools, and educational institutions.
Social implications
It is the pioneer in Hong Kong for teachers and students in teaching and studying arts using IT.
