Project No:
2007/0294
Description
promoting Design and Technology education and to develop students life-long self-learning capability and creativity through establishing an Internet education resource for design and innovation
Purpose of the Project
The aim of this project is to motivate senior primary students and secondary students to learn independently with online design education recourses, to develop students' capability and sense of creativity by initiatives to learn and providing online problem-based learning environment and materials to design and innovation, to promote technology education in Hong Kong by appraising students' innovation and efforts demonstrated in design competition.
Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Design /methodology /approach
Developed an Internet platform that enables students to carry out design projects using a library of components including mechanical bricks, sensors, actuators, electronic components, micro-processors, etc. with supporting 3-D interactive design interface and simulation tools.
Findings /Results /Evaluation of the Project
A design curriculum was developed and published for online learning, 8 schools and over 200 students joined the e-curriculum. An online platform was developed as well for 3D interactive design. Number of activities using the deliverables were organized and participated.
