Two Dimensional IP Routing

We are working on Two Dimensional IP Routing. The forwarding decision is based not only on destination address but also on source address. This increases the routing semantics and helps to support more services such as policy routing, security services, load balancing, etc. This project is led by Tsinghua University/CERNET. We have an overview paper. We wrote an internet draft which also explained some of our early ideas.

We have designed and implemented a Two Dimensional router (14-page) long version (19-page, under further polishing). With such router, we believe many high level innovations on differentiate services can be proposed. We study incremental deployment issues of two dimensional IP routing in the Internet here.
