Hunan
is a Chinese inland province that lies at 1080 47' to 114045'
east longitude, and 24039' to 30028' north latitude, with an
area of 210,000 square km£¬and a population of 62,090,000.
Hunan has a humid continental and subtropical monsoon climate
with annual average temperature 16¡ãC-18¡ãC. Hunan has lots of
elegant landscapes and numerous historic sites. Zhangjiajie
tourist area, with its unique physiognomy, rock peaks, limestone
caves, brooks, ancient trees and rare animals, has been
acclaimed as world natural wonder and placed on the World
Natural Heritage List by UNESCO.
Changsha, the provincial capital, is a historic and
cultural city. Famous tourist sites there include Han Dynasty
Tombs at Mawangdui with more than 2100 years history, and Yuelu
Academy of Classical Learning. Changsha is proud of its two
internationally renowned scientists Chen Guoda, founder of the
theory of land depression, and Yuan Longping, known as "
father of rice hybridization ". Changsha is also a key
center of giant computer in China.
