Final Program

Aims and Scope

The network technology has continued to evolve since its inception forty years ago. Through the rapid development in the past ten years, the Internet and the web has become the de facto standard of communication nowadays, embracing information processing capability. However, there are still a great variety of networks in operation, and many more will be used for widespread deployment. The past few years witness the upcoming of wireless/mobile networks and sensor networks. Information processing on those networks continues to be an important research and application area. This workshop aims at sharing and integrating research efforts upon the information processing issues on different types of networking systems, including the standard Internet, intranets, wireless communication networks, and the evolving sensor networks, internet 2 and so on.

WINPEN 2006 will be published by IEEE (indexed by SCI and IE). It will be held in conjunction with WAIM 2006 conference and invites original research contribution on generic and applied research on information processing over different types of networks, especially those within inter-disciplinary research. The workshop would provide a forum where researchers and practitioners can share and exchange their knowledge and experience.

Topics of Interest

The WINPEN 2006 topics of interest include but are certainly not limited to the following areas:

We strongly encourage submission of papers bridging the research in different fields and promoting mutual exchange and understanding of cross-field research results.

Publication and Submission Details

The informal proceedings will be published by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The formal proceedings will be published after the workshop by IEEE (indexed by SCI and IE). All submissions should be in English. Submission of a paper should be regarded as an undertaking that, should the paper be accepted, at least one author will attend the workshop to present the work. Papers should not exceed 8 pages in US Letter or A4 double column format. Papers have to present original research contributions not concurrently submitted elsewhere. Papers must be submitted to winpen06@comp.polyu.edu.hk by e-mails. All manuscripts will be reviewed by members of the program committee based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition.
