The organizing committee for the Second International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2014) invites students that are at a mature stage of their doctoral studies, or within 12 months of having held their final defense, to apply for the IJCB Doctoral Consortium event. This event will offer the selected students the chance to interact with senior people in the biometrics field, both academic and industry, as well as peers from a variety of institutions. The selected students for the doctoral consortium will be provided a poster space in one of the poster sessions of the conference. Each participant will be assigned a mentor who can serve as a point of contact and a "host" of sorts for the conference.
Doctoral Consortium applications should be made by 5:00 pm EST on July 11.
The application should consist of: (1) a CV that clearly states the anticipated date of graduation and the PhD advisor's name and contact information, list all publications and submissions to date, and lists all previous conference travel, (2) a one-page statement of career goals, and (3) one accepted or submitted paper that represents what the applicant feels is their major contribution to biometrics to date. The application should be sent as a single pdf file by email to the DC Chairs: kwb@cse.nd.edu and ricnanekk@uncw.edu . Selection will be made by the DC Chairs in consultation with the conference organizers.
Similar to the earlier edition of ICB (like ICB 2011 or ICB 2012), the applicants shortlisted from the call or Doctoral Consortium will be provided partial support for participating in IJCB 2014. This IAPR Travel stipend is subject to the approval of IAPR and will be offered to participants to maximum of ten participants selected by DC chairs.
