Applied Computing has been a primary gathering forum for applied computer scientists, computer engineers, software engineers, and application developers from around the world. SAC 2006 is sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing, and is hosted by the University of Bourgogne, Dijon, France.
The research area of mobile computing has become more important following the recent widespread drive towards wireless sensor networks and location tracking technologies and their applications. The availability of the high bandwidth 3G infrastructures, and the pervasive deployment of low cost WiFi infrastructure serve to accelerate the development of mobile computing to provide ubiquitous computing make possible through the use of increasingly powerful hardware handheld devices, many of which now come with built-in Bluetooth and wireless LAN interfaces. Emergence and acceptance of programming standards like J2ME, SOAP/.NET, and different software applications have broken the barrier for seamless communications across devices. As mobile computing and its applications involve inter-disciplinary research efforts, this is an appropriate track for SAC, in order to draw upon expertise from different areas of researches for better synergy. The unique characteristics and issues present in a mobile computing environment have motivated diverse research areas, spanning from protocols for mobile computing to middleware services to facilitate better integration of mobile services to existing network infrastructure, as well as effective information representation, processing and visualization with small devices. This track is dedicated to this exciting and evolving area of mobile computing to draw upon research efforts and expertise from different areas of researches for better synergy. We would like to bring forth not only the core technologies driving the research, but also important applied research and applications to realize the benefits of anywhere, anyplace and anytime computing.

Original papers from the above-mentioned or other related areas will be considered. Each submitted paper will be fully referenced and undergo a double-blind review process by at least three referees for quality, correctness, originality, and relevance. Notification and reviews will be communicated via e-mail. Note that the same paper cannot be submitted to multiple tracks in SAC.
All papers should be submitted electronically in the format of either postscript or pdf. Hardcopies are allowed ONLY for those without access to the Internet. To ensure double-bind review, author(s) name(s) and address(es) must NOT appear in the paper body. Any self-reference should be in the third person. Each paper must not exceed 4,000 words (approximately 15 pages, double-spaced). Papers that exceed this length risk rejection on the grounds of length alone. Submit your paper to http://milo.cs.iupui.edu/sac2006/SubmitAbstract.aspx?TrackID=50. One of the authors must be designated as the primary contact point to receive the notification at the time of the paper submission. At least one of the authors of the accepted paper must register for the conference and present the paper. The accepted papers will be published in the ACM SAC 2006 proceedings. A set of selected papers, which did not get accepted as full papers, would be accepted as poster papers and will be published as extended two-page abstracts in the symposium proceedings. Submission must be received by Saturday, September 3, 2005.
