A Peer-to-Peer Approach to Task Scheduling in Computation Grid

In this project, a peer-to-peer (P2P)-based decentralized approach of task scheduling in the Grid environment is proposed, which off-loads the intermediate server by letting the peers in the grid to make the scheduling decision among themselves using their own scheduling policies. A generic architecture for metascheduler on peers, called PGS (P2P Grid Scheduler), and the task scheduling framework based on PGS have been developed. A prototype of the proposed architecture and mechanism has been developed and simple performance tests have been conducted. more>>

Integrating P2P networking layer into the Grid

Grid Computing and P2P computing have been drawing increasingly attetions in the field of Distributed Computing. These two technologies are tackling a set of similar problems but with different approaches.Lots of efforts has been put, in each community, on trying to get inspirations, from the other side, for addressing their own problems. The ultimate purpose of this project is similar: trying to make use of the highly scalable P2P networks to increase the scalability, pervasiveness, ease of use, and messaging efficiency of the Grid environment. This objective is intended to be achieved by designing and implementing a specialized P2P layer, with the help of JXTA, into current Grid architecture / infrastructure (OGSA/OGSI).more>>

The goal of the application is to organize, publish, and preserve files. A Data Grid is the software infrastructure that maps from access mechanisms provided by grids to management functions provided by the application. An analysis of how the application can be implemented based on data grids will identify whether functionality is missing from current grid services. more>>
