Dr. James Kwok (HKUST)

Dr. Sai Ho Kwok is an Assistant Professor of Department of Information and Systems Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He holds a BEng (Hons) in Electronic and Communications Engineering (1992) from the University of North London, United Kingdom, a Ph.D. in Digital Image Processing from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London. He was a visiting scholar at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (1994-1995). He has published in IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, Graphical Models and Image Processing as well as in numerous refereed conference proceedings such as ICNNSP and IEEE SICSPCS. His research interests include intellectual property protection for electronic commerce, image database systems, and multimedia database systems.

Dr. Chris Yang (HKU)

Dr. Christopher C. Yang is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems and associate director of the Authorized Academic Java Campus at the University of Hong Kong. He is also the vice-chairman of the Association for Computing Machinery Hong Kong Chapter. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, in 1990, 1992, and 1997, respectively. From 1992 to 1997, he was a research associate in the Intelligent Systems Laboratory in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. From 1995 to 1997, he was also a research scientist in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in the Department of Management Information Systems, where he was an active researcher in the Illinois Digital Library project of Digital Libraries Initiative I. In 1998, he was an invited panelist of the NSF Digital Library Initiative II Review Panel. He was also the program co-chair of the First Asia Digital Library Workshop, and program committee and organizing committee member for several international conferences such as, IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, IEEE Asian Conference on Computer Vision, IEEE International Conference of Computer Science.
